New Building of an Organ for St. Johann Baptist
Mechernich-Antweiler
A big step forward was the new building of the organ for the
catholic church St. Johann Baptist in Mechernich-Antweiler. We got
the chance to realize our ideas of an organ. Please note that we
don not want to give the impression that we invented something new.
For sure, there is nothing new to invent. In this case the only
specification was to realize a mechanical instrument with 16-17
register. To achieve as much tone colours as possible, our
constructed interchange sliders. allows to play 6 register either
with the great organ or with pedal. With I.-pedal coppler these
registers can be heard together.
Another particularly is the octave coppler in the pedal. You are
able to play the soubrasse and the 6 register of the great organ
one octave higher than normally played.
I do not want to describe the different intonation and sound
possibilities. That is impossible. In my opinion, you have to hear
and feel sound. the sound depends on environment such as sanctuary,
view at the organ and hearing and feeling of the organ.
